Make an Easter Wreath
I had so much fun making this wreath featuring plastic craft eggs a certain kid enthusiastically dyed over the course of the past 3-4 years! Here’s a little bit about how I did it!
Supplies:
- a Dollar Tree rabbit head wreath form
- a second round wreath form
- a roll of ribbon (9 ft.)
- 2 zip ties
- 2 floral stems of fake flowers (also bought at the Dollar Tree)
- felt (large enough to cover the wreath forms)
- yarn
- E6000 glue
- hot glue gun and sticks
How I Did It:
1. Secure the two wreath forms together with the two zip ties.
2. Cover the “circles” of the wreath forms with felt (but not the bunny ears.) Make sure to extend the felt about a half inch past the edges. I then made small cuts in it and folded that half edge down on the back and hot glued it. (Basically, I made tabs to make it fit the curves easier). Don’t worry if the back looks a bit ugly. No one will see that side! (If it really bothers you, you could cover it with more felt or a piece of cardboard cut to the shape of the bunny form. I didn’t.)

3. Wrap the yarn around the bunny ears. Take some of your yarn and tie it securely to the bottom of one of the bunny ears. Secure the knot with a touch of hot glue and then just start wrapping the ears. You’ll want to cut off several yards and gather them in your hand to make it easier to wrap around the bunny ears. A large skein of yard won’t fit obviously! I didn’t measure. If the yarn ran out before I finished, I simply knotted a new piece to the end and kept going. (You can hide the knot on the backside if needed. Make sure to trim it close to the knot). I made the mistake of doing this last on mine, but it was more awkward to do when the eggs were already in place!
4. Take your young artist’s plastic eggs and use the E6000 glue to fasten eggs around both circles covering the felt. Leave overnight or until the glue dries. I did two rows around the round “body” of the bunny with some additional eggs spaced out on top of those two rows. I did one row around the head with additional eggs on top going in a different direction. Save space at the top of the body without eggs for the bow. Save space at the bottom for the bunny tail!

5. Trim down the florals and secure them to the bunny ears, by putting hot glue on the bottom tips and fastening those tips to the BACK of the wreath with the flowers poking up!
6. Add a bow using the ribbon. (There are plenty of good tutorials out there on how to make a wreath bow. I did mine by folding my ribbon accordian style and securing the middle tightly with a pipe cleaner and then pulling the loops this makes into the shape I wanted. I also added an optional piece of lace and folded it at the same time I did the ribbon.)
7. Make the bunny tail by wrapping a lot of yarn around a water bottle or jar until it’s the thickness you desire. (Make sure whatever you choose has straight slides instead of tapering like some glasses do.) Carefully, slide the yarn off the jar and tie a very tight knot around it. Trim the ends of the loops, so it looks like a round, fluffy pompom!
8. Hot glue your bunny tail in place!
