Tea Party/Derby Hats for Dolls

I decided to make some cute derby hats for my nanny kid’s dolls this week by cutting down Dollar Tree spring/summer hats for kids. For the 18″ dolls, I cut a circle with roughly a 4.5″ inch diameter (to give a little bit of seam allowance), and then I cut a bit of the side and the bottom rim of the hat and fitted it to the circle and then cut off the excess. I resewed it on the sewing machine, but some of it unravelled, so I wound up also using hot glue to fix it. (If mistakes are made, just cover it with more embellishments.) I was lucky enough to get some shiny, tulle-like fabric from Joann’s for $0.88/yard to shape like roses and decorate them! What do you think?

My little friend was thrilled and ready to party with her dolls!
